Obstacle Racing for Money in New Zealand

Browse By

We’ve gone through all the New Zealand obstacle races and found those that offer prize money. Here’s your guide to racing for money in New Zealand.

Smaller in our country than overseas, such as North America or Europe where prize money is a larger part of the sport, New Zealand obstacle racing has many grass-roots events all over the country. While New Zealand doesn’t have professional athletes able to earn a living from obstacle racing, New Zealand does have some prize money on the line for those wanting to race competitively!

Across all the races, the prize pool sits at $5,200!

Qualification and Elite Races

Unfortunately… the races with prize money may not be everyone’s cup of tea – one involves running in your undies, another being an accomplished Huntaway owner, and another tests not athletic skill but costume skill.

However if you are a competitive racer and want to push yourself on the obstacle course, there may not be suitable prize money on the line in New Zealand yet, but there’re races in New Zealand which offer elite waves or the chance to qualify for championship events!

To see the races categorised as having an ‘elite wave’ or being a ‘qualifier’, jump on over to the Race Directory and sort via the category column.
