Watch Kiwi Athlete Emma Chapman Compete Against the Elite at Spartan Games

Over on Spartan’s YouTube channel you can watch some of the world’s top athletes compete in the free online series the “Spartan Games: Battle of the Fittest”.

Among the lineup is Emma Chapman who was born in New Zealand.

A former New Zealand women’s national soccer team player, Emma is a seasoned CrossFit athlete, having competed in the CrossFit Games and multiple Regionals and Opens, she is also no stranger to obstacle sports – Chapman was the female champion at the Tough Mudder X World Championship in its final year, and more recently was a defender on the game show Million Dollar Mile.

For the Spartan Games, 24 male and female athletes were invited to the Riverside Farm in Pittsfield, Vermont, the birthplace of Spartan, to battle it out over four days with a $100,000 (USD) prize purse on the line. The elite athletes were drawn from across different fitness disciplines, including OCR, ultra running, swimming, mountain biking, functional fitness, and other strength and endurance-based events.

The athletes competed in 10 events spread across four days:

Day 1

  • Spartan Cross obstacle course
  • 45 minute open water swim
  • Highland Games

Day 2

  • Deka Strong
  • 5 hour mountain bike

Day 3

  • Wrestling
  • 6 hour trail ultra

Day 4

  • Deka Heavy
  • Extreme endurance vertical 300
  • Spartan Cross obstacle course

The first episode of the Spartan Games premiered December 2nd, with the next three episodes dropping weekly.
