Obstacle Racers NZ Would Like to Thank Race Volunteers for Making OCR in NZ Happen

There are 51 obstacle events* around New Zealand, and growing.

These events are organised by a range of different groups: event management companies, regional sport trusts, charities, schools, venue managers and other organisations – but the common ground is that they all rely on volunteers to make them a reality. To make these 51 events happen there are literally hundreds of everyday New Zealanders offering their time and energy to volunteer as event marshals, event assistants, registration assistants and various other roles which are integral to the events.

Obstacle Racers NZ would like to issue a public thank you to those who volunteer at obstacle events throughout New Zealand.

As runners, when we show up on race days you’re the ones who allow us to undertake the challenge and the adventure which awaits us. Thank you for pointing us in the right direction so we stay on the course, thank you for handing us much needed drinks at the drink station, thank you for offering words of motivation as we face down the 8-foot wall. But most of all, thank you for getting up early on a weekend to stand outside in the cold and the miles and miles of mud. Thank you from the Obstacle Racers NZ community.

As part of national volunteer week, June 18th-24th 2017, Obstacle Racers NZ would like to officially congratulate those who volunteer at races, You are the faces and the heart of the emerging sport of obstacle course racing and mud running in New Zealand.
