Thank You for Making Obstacle Racing in New Zealand Happen

Obstacle Racers New Zealand would like to issue a public thank you to those volunteering at obstacle events throughout New Zealand!

There were about 61 obstacle events around New Zealand last year. These events are organised by a range of different groups: event management companies, regional sport trusts, charities, schools, venue managers and other organisations – but the common ground is that they all rely on volunteers to make them a reality. To make these events happen there are literally hundreds of everyday New Zealanders offering their time and energy to volunteer as event marshals, event assistants, registration assistants and various other roles which are integral to the events.

Thank you for getting up early on a weekend to stand outside in the cold and the mud! Thank you from the Obstacle Racers NZ community.

National Volunteer Week celebrates the 1.2 million Kiwis who volunteer in our communities every year. The theme for 2018: Volunteers, The Heart of our Community – By many, the work will be completed, Mā tini, mā mano, ka rapa te whai, captures the essence of the volunteering spirit and the essential link between volunteers and the communities who benefit from their generosity. The event will run from June 17-23, 2018.

Of the 1.2 million people who volunteer in New Zealand every year, five out of six are giving their time to the sport and recreation sector. Obstacle Racers NZ would like to encourage race organisers to thank their volunteers this week.
