The Tough Guy and Gal Series Turns 20
New Zealand’s original mud run series, the Tough Guy and Gal Challenge is celebrating some major milestones this year.
The Tough Guy and Gal Challenge events are celebrating their 20th anniversary, while the Secondary School Tough Guy and Gal Challenge events are celebrating their 10th anniversary! The series draws around 20,000 participants annually.
To celebrate, Event Promotions is offering both special finisher medals and a chance to enter events at a discounted opening special rate.
Event Promotions released the following information,
2022 is a big year for our Tough Guy and Gal Challenge, with it being our 20th Anniversary!
It is an amazing achievement to have an event standing strong for 20 years and we want to celebrate it!
For 2022, our Tough Guy and Gal Challenge competitors will all have the opportunity to snap up one of our Opening Special entry fee rates! The first 200 competitors who register for either Wellington, Auckland or Rotorua can enter this year’s events for a special rate of $52.50!!
To extend the celebration to ALL competitors, we are also going to have a commemorative anniversary finishers medal for ALL of our competitors this year!
If these medals are like the podium medals from previous year’s events, they’re amazing medals with plenty of detail. The textured mud background and the barbed wire border are great details to make this medal stand out from others!
Enter to score one of these special anniversary medals as Tough Guy and Gal doesn’t usually offer finisher’s medals, instead offering participation mugs. See here for our collection of mugs from the 20 year history of the series.
As well as the adult’s Tough Guy and Gal Challenge events, the series also includes the Tough Gal Team Challenge events, the Secondary School Tough Guy and Gal Challenge events, and the Junior Tough Guy and Gal Challenge events:
The Glow Lab Tough Gal Team Challenge, entering its third year, is a women’s only series of events tailored specifically for teams of three women to take on the 6km course full of man-made and natural obstacles.
The Secondary School Tough Guy and Gal Challenge celebrates 10 years and welcomes a new naming rights sponsor, Massey University. If you are a secondary school aged student or a Teacher at a secondary school, this event is a great opportunity to complete and gain NCEA credits as it is NZQA Approved for Achievement Standards 91330 and 91501 as well as build confidence in a different environment than many are use to competing in.
The Junior Tough Guy and Gal Challenge has become the most popular of the series with thousands of primary and intermediate aged children attending all around the North Island to get covered in mud and tackle the shorter courses, suitable to their ages. If you are a Parent or Teacher, this is a great event for kids to build confidence, have fun and get covered in MUD!
